What size are your groups?

One of the important factors when considering a tour is the group size. At Hermes Tours we take this seriously and work hard to balance the group size, transportation needs, environmental concerns and value. Although it may cost less per person if there were 30 people traveling together, we feel that this would diminish the value of your adventure and limit the type of activities we can do and places we can go. The Hermes Tours style demands very small groups with most of our trips between 4-16 travelers.

Is Hermes exclusively for gay travelers?

No, Hermes Tours is a mixed & straight Friendly tour operator. Friends of the GLBT community are more than welcome to join our tour as long as they are welcoming to the atmosphere that we create.

What method can I pay with?

Hermes Tours accepts credit cards (Visa & MasterCard) as well as checks for tour deposits. We only accept checks for the final balance of your tour price.

Does Hermes Tours arrange international flights?

For the most part we do not book international flights to get to/from the destination. Unless specifically specified, our prices include land only arrangements. We do this to give the most flexibility to our travelers who like to choose the airline they prefer, use points to travel, or extend their vacation.

This being said, Hermes Tours does have partnerships with travel agents & consolidators and therefore we can assist any client or provide recommendations for flights. We especially have some great rates on travel to Africa. Contact us. We can help.

Please note: Hermes Tours does arrange all transportation within a tour itself, including internal air if applicable.

Are there any hidden costs?

Unless specified, the tour price quoted to you is the land only price. You are responsible for any visas that may be necessary (we will assist with contacts and forms), personal expenses and meals not included in the package. We also recommend that you purchase travel insurance, both health and cancellation insurance for the trip (we can provide you with that).

Otherwise, Hermes does occasionally offer a few optional activities within the tour itself at a supplemental cost. This is always outlined in the tour description and you can always ask us more about it before you choose your trip. Some examples of optional activities are; on in Vienna, travelers have the option to attend a concert one evening. We do not like to force travelers who are not interested in attending such an event to pay for one; this is why we offer this as an option to only those who are interested.

Any optional activity that we offer will always be at the lowest possible price to you.

Should I buy travel insurance?

Hermes Tours recommends all travelers purchase both medical travel insurance and cancellation insurance. This can be done either through us or any other insurance provider you wish to use. Contact us for rates.

The benefits of travel insurance: No one plans to get sick while on vacation. Unfortunately this does occur. Medical costs abroad can be very expensive and most of the time your private or government health insurance will not cover your medical costs should you get sick while away from home. Medical insurance will cover all these expenses and then some.

If for some unforeseen reason you are unable to travel on your trip before your departure, the cancellation insurance you purchase will make sure that the money you have paid for this trip will be refunded to you. Due to many advanced logistical arrangements that have been made prior to the departure of our trips, we must adhere to our cancellation policy.

A couple dollars spent per day on insurance will give you the peace of mind knowing that these costs would be covered should you need.

Hermes Tours can provide you with competitive comprehensive travel medical and/or cancellation insurance for US and Canadian as well as European residents. Contact us for more information.

Where does Hermes Tours get its name?

Hermes Tours gets our name from the Greek god of travelers and journeying. 'Hermes' was responsible to ensure that all travelers were safe and that all was taken care of when they were away from home. We at Hermes Tours know the true meaning of hospitality and voyaging, and are here to make sure that you have the vacation you have always dreamed of.
