Mediterranean Adriatic Luxury Cruise Itinerary (Begins in Venice, Italy and ends in Dubrovnik, Croatia)
Venice, Italy - September 5, 2015
Venice has been known as the "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Water", "City of Masks", "City of Bridges", "The Floating City", and "City of Canals". Luigi Barzini, writing in The New York Times, described it as "undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man". Venice has also been described by the Times Online as being one of Europe's most romantic cities. Founded in the 5th century, the city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic. In 1987 Venice and its Lagoon was inscribed as an UNESCO Heritage site. SeaDream typically docks at the San Basilio pier after navigating by the famous St. Mark's Square down the grand canal. With its yacht stature, SeaDream vessels are amongst the very few commercial vessels that can navigate this famous waterway. SeaDream does offer Land Adventures when overnighting. You can also contact our destination specialists should you need a private arrangement, transfer or hotel recommendation.
Losinj, Croatia - September 6, 2015
Losinj sometimes called Mali Losinj is a Croatian island in the northern Adriatic Sea. At one time with 11 shipyards, it housed the largest and most developed merchant marine fleet in the Adriatic. Today it is much quieter with visitors enjoying the small town and the beaches together with the 9000 inhabitants.
Rab, Croatia - September 6, 2015
The island of Rab, located just off the northern Croatian coast in the Adriatic Sea, is rich in cultural heritage and cultural-historical monuments. The town, encircled by 12-century medieval walls, offers beautiful views of the harbor, a plethora of churches and four campaniles that are still the town's most conspicuous landmarks. Visit the Church of Justina with its museum of sacral art, the Church of St. John the Baptist, the Prince's Palace or the sculptures of Draga. The island is very popular with tourists and families for its beautiful nature, beaches, heritage and many cultural events.
Split, Croatia - September 7, 2015
Split is one of the oldest cities in the area and the second largest city in Croatia. The Diocletian's Palace is not only listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site but is also considered to be one of the world's most impressive Roman monuments. This city is believed to be over 1,700 years old, while archaeological research relates the settling to the ancient Greek colony of Aspalathos (6th century BC) establishes the city as being several hundred years older. SeaDream offers three unique land adventure opportunities; Rafting on the Cetina River, the Split Archipelago by speedboat and naturally the Historic Split overview that included the Diocletian Palace as well as the Mestrovic Gallery.
Hvar, Croatia - September 7, September 8, 2015
Hvar is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. The island of Hvar is somewhat unusual as it is blessed with a large fertile coastal plain, and fresh water springs. Its hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. The climate is characterized by mild winters, and warm summers with many hours of sunshine. Guests have an option to kayak down the coastline on one of our land adventures or take an independent hike up to the fortress to have some incredible views of the picturesque harbor. You also have an option to bike across the island to Starigrad and meet up with the other guests on the land adventure called "The best of Both Worlds".
Korcula, Croatia - September 9, 2015
Korcula may be the actual birth place of Marco Polo! This is an island in the Adriatic Sea, in Southern Dalmatia and is considered by our guests as one of their favorites. One activity offered sells out every time so book early the Buggy Safari. As SeaDream typically anchors off Korcula expect the water toys to be used from the marina platform. As the island is relatively flat, this is a great biking destination as well.
Kotor, Montenegro - September 10, September 11, 2015
Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro. The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by an impressive city wall built by the Republic of Venice and the Venetian influence remains dominant among the architectural influences. The Bay of Kotor one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea, is sometimes called the southern-most fjord in Europe (though it is actually a submerged river canyon). With the nearly overhanging limestone cliffs of Orjen and Lovcen one of the great Mediterranean landscapes is created.
Dubrovnik, Croatia - September 11, September 12, 2015
Dubrovnik (Pearl of the Adriatic) is one of the most prominent destinations in the Adriatic Sea. It lies in the region of Dalmatia and was awarded World Unesco Heritage status in 1979. The population is approximately 43,000 and is considered to be among the 10 best medieval walled cities in the world. SeaDream anchors off the walled city as a port of call and tenders directly to the town gate.
