Welcome to the 7th Edition of Arosa Gay Skiweek! From January 8 - 15, 2011, you will discover an international week of fun enjoyed by hundreds of participants from all around the world. Arosa sits at the top of a typical Swiss valley (6000 feet) and that means there's sure to be snow! Whether you like skiing back to your hotel at the end of the day on your new carving skis, walking along the winter paths that lead you right through the ski slopes or listening to the snow crunching under your feet as you stroll through the village - you are right in the center of the happenings...

Alongside skiers and snowboarders, you will meet many non-skiers, après-skiers, party animals and others who simply want to relax in a wonderful atmosphere and sunbathe in the complementary sun-loungers at the Tschuggenhütte, facing the Weisshorn and a breathtaking alpine panorama.

Our 6 gay-friendly partner hotels offer various packages at special prices and will find something to fit all budgets. Like last year, the Eventpass Gold is included in all of our hotel packages, which gives you access to all events as well as numerous other advantages, such as a 20% discount on your ski or snowboard rental.

Arosa is located in southeast of Switzerland, at the end of the Schanfigg-valley. With its extraordinary geographical location not far from St. Moritz and Davos, it boasts a maximum of sunny days whilst being protected by the winds. Since 1877 this traditional alpine ski resort has become a "must" for mountain and sun lovers. On it's altitude of 1800m (6000 feet) you can be sure that there's plenty of snow for all snow sports. Whether you like carving the slopes and skiing back to your hotel at the end of the day - you'll be right in the center of the action. With easy access by train or by car you're only two and a half hours away from Zürich and it's international airport.

Since its launch in January 2005, the Arosa Gay Skiweek has become one of the most important events in Arosa. In Winter 2010 the organizers were able to welcome more than 350 participants who make the Arosa Gay Skiweek one of the biggest winter events in the gay/lesbian community and one of the highlights on the event calendar. Arosa welcomes guests from over 30 countries and alongside skiers and snowboarders there are also many non-skiers, après-skiers, party people, and others who simply want to sunbathe in the complimentary sun loungers at the Tschuggenhütte facing the Weisshorn and a breathtaking alpine panorama.

Next to the winter sports activities, the side events have become just as important. The organizers have surpassed themselves yet again this year with a fantastic lineup of cultural events, DJ’s and other international artists. As before, Arosa will host artists such as e.g. Michel Dalberto (F), world famous pianist, for a classical concert in the village church and La DivaLive (B), a high-class singer and entertainer, for a fabulous show on the Eden stage. Gourmet dinners, severeal single table dinners for people who wish to meet other friendly participants and champagne tasting are also on the list of events. The highlights of every year are still the Fondue Party on the mountain, sledging down at night and the horse-drawn sleigh ride to the Tschuggenhuette for the colorful DragQueen Fun Race.

The date for the next 7th Annual Gay Ski week is 8th-15th January 2011, and we expect more than 400 participants, which will be another new participation record. There are offers for every budget starting with a 5 star grand deluxe hotel (with it's most amazing Spa of the Alps) to the typical traditional bread & breakfast. Besides to the Hotels, also chalets for whole groups and holiday apartments for up to four people can all be reserved online on our web page. The offers start from 250 swiss francs per person for a whole week of sun and fun! Also Arosa Tourism and Swiss tourism have renewed and increased their support for the Arosa Gay Skiweek.

New this winter is "Dorothe's Bed & Breakfast" which joins the 6 existing partner hotels. This cozy accomodation with a personal touch is reserved exclusively for women. This will cover the oft-mentioned need for more special lesbian offers. Of course, there will also be special events for women such as e.g. jUSi (D), a unique female Soul- Pop-duo concert in the Seehof.

Note: to take part to the various events, you have to buy an Event pass! it's the cheapest way and only then you will be able to get different discounts in selected Arosa businesses (shops, ski-rental, ...). Resort

Arosa is an old-established resort combining traditional sophistication with the more casual and relaxed atmosphere of today. The village of Arosa and most of the pistes are south-facing, but snow conditions are very good thanks to the altitude. Arosa is an ideal resort for beginners and intermediate skiers with around 60km of pistes. The two main areas around the Hoernli and Weisshorn are interlinked and offer two panoramic restaurants with several other mountain restaurants nearby. There is a new lift towards Weisshorn giving access to an excellent black run. The Tschuggen nursery slopes are ideal for beginners while the nursery slopes in Innerarosa are mainly used for the children's ski school groups. A frequent bus service gives easy access to all 6 lifts from the village of Arosa into the different ski areas and queues are a rarity. Arosa is a perfect place for a relaxed Switzerland ski holiday.

Getting to Arosa

By Car:
From ZURICH take the motorway A3 to CHUR.
Take the exit CHUR-NORD towards "Zentrum, Arosa".
Follow the signs to AROSA.

From the SAN BERNADINO Pass take the A13 to CHUR.
Take the exit CHUR-SÜD, direction "AROSA".
Follow the signs to AROSA.

Chur - Arosa in approx. 45 minutes on a narrow winding road upward. Winter tyres and snow chains are recommended.

By Air:
Take the plane to ZURICH International Airport. From there take the Intercity train to CHUR with the connection to the Arosa Express. It can't go easier!

By Train:
Intercity Express trains to CHUR. From CHUR there is an hourly departure to AROSA with the romantic Rhaetian Railway. Our hotels will be happy to pick you up at the train station. Timetables and prices can be found here:

Meet and greet all the participants at the Eden bar, with cocktails, Prosecco and delicious titbits. Presentation of the team, forming of ski groups with ski teachers, ski guide, etc. Access with all Event Passes, otherwise CHF 30.- Afterwards: Welcome Buffet Dinner at the Festsaal and restaurant Roggenmoser, hotel Eden . Robert Steinbacher BodyART™ top aerobic classes - monday to thursday
Robert Steinbacher looks back to over 15 years of international experience as educator, presenter and choreographer.. As a movement therapist he created the BodyART™ training system. He is the founder of one of Europe's biggest movement & mind center which educated over 3000 instructors and bodyworkers worldwide. In 2007 he received the OBOW award of "Best Male Presenter Worldwide".

Concert - Monday 10th January 2011, 6:30 pm
Acclaimed pianist Michel Dalberto and tenor Zachary Stains will present an exceptional concert at the Dorfkirche (Entrance with all Event passes, otherwise CHF 30.- ). Michel Dalberto is one of the world's foremost interpreters of Schubert and Mozart. He is the only living pianist to have recorded the complete piano works by Schubert and serves as Chairman of the Jury of the prestigious Clara Haskil Competition.

American tenor Zachary Stains is consistently praised for the beauty of his voice and the interpretive power of his characterizations. He has sung for many festivals and opera houses in Europe and America and can be heard on several recordings on the Virgin and Dynamic labels. They will perform opera arias and some famous Broadway musicals themes.

Horse Meat Disco - Monday 10th January 2011
Again this year: Horse Meat Disco, the london queer party for everyone; club kids, bears, fashionistas, naturists, guerilla drag queens... Dedicated to the industry of human happiness, it usually pumps out every Sunday at the Eagle-London. Musically its a disco behemoth of classics, italo disco, oddities and punk funk. Start 10 pm, free entry with all Event passes or CHF 15.-

Mousse - Foam - party by Jungle Gay Party , Tuesday, 11th January 2011
The well known "Ultra Hot Gay Foam Party " from MAD Club in Lausanne, hosted by Alexx, will happen again! Start 11 pm in the Kitchen Club and Poolbar, DJ Antoine909 from London (LoveBall & Circuit Festival, Barcelona - Jungle Party, Lausanne) will spin hot tribal progressive and tek house. Old shoes and sexy shorts highly recommended! (Entrance with all Event passes, otherwise CHF 25.- ) Gays only!

Swiss Fondue - Fun in the Tschuggenhütte , Wednesday, 12th January 2011
7 pm. Warming-up with a shot of Röteli™, then walk or take a night-time ride in the gondola up to the Tschuggenhütte, in the ski area. There enjoy a Bündnerteller (a selection of local cold meats speciality), a hearty cheese fondue by candlelight and a warm apple strudel for dessert. Afterwards sledging back together on the torch-lit run to the village. Yippee! Included in Gold and Silver Event passes, otherwise CHF 60.- (dinner drinks not included).

In a very elegant atmosphere, you can rely on head chef Uwe Seegert to take care of the culinary delicacies. Compose your own menu, entirely to your liking and preferences.
