Sapphire Seas of Tahiti Cruise
March 14 21, 2009
Regent Seven Sea's Paul Gauguin
Is there any group of islands in the world as romantic as the Society Islands of French Polynesia? Considered "Paradise on Earth" by savvy travelers, these rugged volcanic islands were made famous by the words of author James A. Michener and the paintings of artist Paul Gauguin, our ship's namesake. These sirens of the South Pacific evoke balmy days, sultry nights and panoramas that could only have been created by Nature in her finest hour.
Experience the beauty of paradise on the sapphire seas of Tahiti. Come away with the women of Olivia to the romantic islands of French Polynesia aboard the luxurious Paul Gauguin, named "Best Luxury Cruise Line" in Travel Weekly's Readers' Choice Awards 2005.
Discover giant curls of turquoise breaking onto reefs protecting blue lagoons and white beaches that according to novelist Michener, "are so stunning, there are really no adequate words to describe them." The jagged peaks of Tahiti crown emerald rain forests, while some islands appear barely to float above the breaking waves.
But what truly distinguishes French Polynesia is its people. On our South Pacific cruise, you'll see their love for these islands through music, dance and flowers. Legendary hospitality beckons as this area is known for its welcome acceptance, free-spirited women, and its priority to community leisure.
Fantasy Island is real, and it's waiting for you.

Another might feature a thrilling performance of ote'a - a complex line dance accompanied by drums telling the ancestral legends of the Polynesian people. Later on in your cruise, you'll have a chance to learn how to dance in true Polynesian style from our wonderful Gauguines performers.
Casino and Connoisseur Club
On any evening, pulses run high in the Le Casino with its blackjack tables and roulette wheel. Or when Cognac and cigars are in order, the Connoisseur Club provides a warmly relaxing environment, much like a favorite private club in London. Have a glass of port at the bar or pick your favorite smoke from the humidor.
La Palette Lounge
Sing along at the piano bar in this spectacular observation lounge atop the ship. At night it's transformed into a romantic nightclub where a chanteuse sings the Parisian blues and couples sway on the indoor/outdoor dance floor.
Spa and Fitness Center
Enter a world of serenity and beauty, where the sound of fountains, the glow of cool marble and the touch of the masseuse erase all cares. Take your pick of massage, thalassotherapy, aromatherapy, wraps or steam room treatments - all skillfully administered by wonder-working hands.
Watersports Platform
Watersports are a highlight of the Polynesian experience. The ship's small size allows it to navigate in shallow lagoons and narrow channels where larger ships may not sail. With the specially designed retractable watersports platform, guests may descend to sea level where they can conveniently hop aboard a windsurfer, launch a kayak, try a little waterskiing or set out for a SCUBA diving expedition. A scuba certification program is offered on board.
L'Etoile
Enjoy fine French cuisine with a Polynesian accent amid the classic furnishings and fluted shell lighting reminiscent of one of the refined dining establishments in Paris. Here delectable cuisine is artfully presented and guests receive the most diligent attention.
Guest can choose to depart Friday (21.03.) or Saturday (23.03.) night

Papeete
The islands of Polynesia are a gorgeous collection of volcanic islands and atolls strewn lazily across the grand Pacific Ocean. The island of Tahiti proper, often called the "Island of Love," is the largest of the 117 islands and welcomes you with warm breezes and the aromatic calling of vanilla and hibiscus.
Raiatea
See lush green valleys, cascades and pineapple and vanilla plantations. Explore Marae Taputapuatea, an open air temple built of stone, once a religious homeland for the Polynesian Maori society.
Taha'a
With its many deep bays and small deserted motus on the reef, Taha'a is an ideal island to escape the 20th century. Here you can explore the reef to discover the beauty of its multicolored lagoon, enjoy a picnic on a deserted motu island or go hiking in the mountains and through the vanilla plantations.
Bora Bora
Towering peaks of sheer black rock dominate the center of the island and make an impressive backdrop to an assortment of blue waters that will dazzle the eyes. Bora Bora is arguably the most beautiful island on the planet and its blue lagoon is its most treasured feature. Windsurf, jetski, scuba dive, swim, bask in its warmth... if you visit any South Pacific island, Bora Bora is at the top.
No other name conjures up relaxation. With craggy volcanic peaks, reflected in the tranquil waters lush mountain fertile slopes and white sand beaches bordering crystalline lagoons. Bora Bora is calling your name.
Moorea
Moorea alongside Tahiti are widely considered to be the ultimate escape destination. Boasting spectacular bays and beaches Moorea's craggy volcanic peaks rise like a shark's jaw from the island's base. The lush mountain slopes are covered with rain forest and pineapple plantations while white sand beaches border crystalline lagoons.
