Lindblad Expeditions ms Islander

Your Ship - ms Islander

Lindblad's new expedition ship, the ms Islander, is your ship on the adventure of a lifetime. It is equipped with everything you need to explore the Galapagos archipelago. Zodiac landing craft will get you into those hard-to-reach places. Snorkeling gear and wet suits let you explore the amazing underwater world and its inhabitants. An undersea specialist will be on board to answer all your questions before diving in. And, a video chronicler will be on hand to catch every moment of the journey.

The ship's on-board spa, the LEX Spa, delivers sumptuous amenities so you can relax, rejuvenate and get ready for your next excursion. If you don't want to wait until getting home, for your convenience, guest e-mail stations are provided. You can send photos or notes to keep everyone at home up to date.

The ms Islander is also fully air-conditioned. The lounge on the Bridge deck offers refreshments at the bar and facilities for viewing films, slide shows and lectures. If the undersea specialist isn't available or you're curious about any other aspect of the archipelago, you can research Galapagos destinations in the library - also located on the Bridge deck.

Take your book outside to relax. The ship offers both a covered deck area as well as seating in the sunshine. You can also peruse magazines and other goods at the gift shop at your leisure.

All meals are served in one seating in the restaurant, and the menu is delightfully international with an Ecuadorian flair.

The Lure of Galapagos

Giant Galapagos tortoises grunt in distant highlands. Prehistoric marine iguanas spit their salty spray. Flightless cormorants and tiny penguins dart through the surrounding waters. Storm petrels - walk - across its surface and graceful red-billed tropicbirds screech across the sky. A new day in the Galapagos begins its wildlife symphony. With a Galapagos naturalist at our side, we set out each day in the early morning and afternoon, to remarkable ecosystems where the wildlife is most abundant and active. Inching our way past lounging iguanas and sea lions, scouting for breaching whales offshore and pink flamingos at hidden lagoons, we marvel at the strangeness of the Galapagos creatures on these desolate volcanic isles much as Charles Darwin did nearly two centuries ago.

There is nothing quite like exploring the trail of Darwin through the Galapagos Islands, with the odd creatures that populate this isolated world filling every niche around you. The Galapagos are an archipelago of several volcanic islands located in the Pacific Ocean, about 650 miles west of Ecuador. Enjoy up-close views of specially-adapted animals, plants and terrain that inspired Charles Darwin on his first theories of evolution. Galapagos.com is dedicated to showing the many sides of the Galapagos, one of the most profound and enchanting wildlife spectacles in the world, a haven of nature and discovery unlike any other. Superbly remote yet surprisingly easy to get to, the Galapagos is a world within itself, with the odd creatures that populate this isolated world filling every niche around you.
