Vacation Add-Ons

DISCOVER ULURU

OCTOBER 14 – 16, 2008

One cannot visit Australia without adding a quick trip to Uluru. The giant red Monolith has come to represent Australia itself. The massive sandstone rock – the summit of a buried mountain, sacred to the local aboriginal tribes – generates an almost mystical power. "The Rock" is 5.28 miles around the base, 2.16 miles long and 1.44 miles wide and towers 1131 feet above the surrounding plain.

YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS

"SAILS IN THE DESERT HOTEL"
Named after the soaring white sails that crown its roof, this is Voyages Ayers Rock Resort's premier 5 Star hotel. Exquisitely furnished and designed, the interior decor focuses on Aboriginal heritage and culture, with a gallery in the lobby and significant artworks featured throughout the property.

Slip into comfort and luxury right in the heart of the central Australian outback. Be greeted by the oasis that is the central courtyard. Relax in spacious, airy, beautifully appointed rooms, enjoy a cocktail in the lovely grounds, or sit back and relax under the magnificent white sails. The Hotel also features the acclaimed Mulgara Gallery, the lively, buffet-style Winkiku Restaurant and the award winning signature restaurant of Voyages Ayers Rock Resort, Kuniya Restaurant.

YOUR ACTIVITIES

OCTOBER 14, 2008
At the conclusion of your Australia and New Zealand experience, you will be transferred by private coach to Cairns Airport for your flight to Ayers Rock.

Lunch is on your own at any of the exquisite restaurants on the grounds. Shortly before sundown, you are driven out to a special private dining site in the middle of the desert. Dine under the stars at our private "Sounds of Silence Dinner" with only the sound of the lone didgeridoo filling the air as the sun slowly sets behind the many domes of Olgas (Kata Tjuta) and Ayers Rock (Uluru). Stargazing follows by a resident astronomer.

OCTOBER 15, 2008
Enjoy a Backpack Breakfast and a private sightseeing tour to view the magnificent colors of Uluru at sunrise. Return to the hotel for some leisure time and optional activities (guided ride on a camel or Harley Davidson)*, or just laze by the pool and enjoy lunch on your own.

Later in the afternoon we tour the "Olgas" – a collection of 36 sandstone domes that in ancient times may have been a formation bigger than Uluru itself. Enjoy champagne or soft drinks and canapés before returning to the hotel for dinner on your own.

OCTOBER 16, 2008
Breakfast followed by transfer to the airport for return flights to Sydney to meet your connections home.
