Lisbon to Dublin All-Lesbian Cruise 2016
June 26 July 4, 2016
Windstar msy Wind Surf
Follow the dreamers of the world from the coast that launched a thousand explorers to the land of leprechauns and rainbows. Nations that face the Atlantic have always wondered what lies beyond the horizon. From the soulful strains of fado to a stout Irish Guinness, Galicia's famed seafood to the granite castles of Brittany, this all-lesbian cruise is full of fascinating discoveries.
There's no shortage of maritime history, Gothic castles and ginger locks in this part of the world. Begin in Lisbon, the city that launched the Age of Discovery, and wander the medieval maze of Alfama to St. George's Castle or shop for leather and designer fashions in Baixa. Porto is most famous for its port wine, discovered by accident in the 17th century, and ornate Baroque churches. In Galicia, you'll find the ports of Vigo and El Ferrol, the former of which you can dine on fresh seafood in the famous El Berbes Quarter. The latter showcases the twin castles of San Felipe and La Palma, the main base for the Spanish navy in the 17th century. Further north in Brest, greatly influenced by Cornish and Welsh peoples, travel to see the prehistoric standing stones or tour Brest Castle, the oldest active military stronghold in the world. See rare birds, visit the Abbey Gardens or check out the Cromwell Castle on the Isles of Scilly. Across the Celtic Sea, explore Ireland's oldest fortified city, Waterford, and raise a glass at 300-year old T&H Doolans' Pub. When you finally make your way to Dublin, be sure to see the 11th century castle, grab a pint of Guinness and cross the Ha'Penny Bridge to see the Book of Kells at Trinity College. Cheers!

Lisbon, Portugal Sunday, June 26, 2016
Explore the city known for launching the Age of Discovery, from its tiled plazas to its historic waterfront. Wander the medieval maze of Alfama to St. George's Castle. Pose with the iconic monuments of Belém or ride a bright yellow tram to the Tile Museum. Shop for leather, linens and designer fashions in Baixa and Chiado.
Porto/Lexio, Portugal Monday, June 27, 2016
Built into the granite cliffs at the mouth of the Rio Douro, the hilly city of Porto presents a heady juxtaposition of eras and styles. Here, medieval alleyways, orderly neighborhood squares, and ornate Baroque churches readily intermingle. The highlight, though, is a taste of port wine at its best – a happy accident dating to the 17th century when brandy was discovered to preserve wine for transit.
Vigo, Spain Tuesday, June 28, 2016
See the twisting streets, old mansions, and beautiful plazas of the old district, parts of which have survived since medieval times. Dine on fresh seafood found all over Vigo but especially in the famous El Berbes Quarter. Or head further afield to Santiago de Compostela, where a magnificent cathedral has greeted pilgrims since the 9th century.
El Ferrol, Spain Wednesday, June 29, 2016
After entering the estuary mouth, pass through a narrow canal where the twin castles of San Felipe and La Palma welcome you to what was the main base for the Spanish Navy in the 17th century. Spend a pleasant day rumbling around the old Magdalena neighborhood, or make your own pilgrimage to nearby Santiago de Compostela where a magnificent cathedral has greeted pilgrims since the 9th century.
Day at Sea Thursday, June 30, 2016
It's time to relax, sip a glass of wine or sparkling water and catch up with friends. Get a massage at the spa, sunbathe at the pool, or just sit and enjoy gorgeous views of the French coastline.
Brest, France Friday, July 1, 2016
Welcome to Brest, and to Brittany, where you'll hear whispers of Cornish and Welsh in the local French dialect. Brittany has a unique culture that still echoes its Celtic past. Travel to Carnac where local legend claims the prehistoric standing stones were a Roman Legion turned to stone by Merlin. Tour Brest Castle, with more than 1,700 years of history, the oldest active military stronghold in the world.
Isles of Scilly, United Kingdom Saturday, July 2, 2016
This beautiful archipelago welcomes you to the best and most unspoiled beaches in Cornwall. Rare birds from around the globe are at home here, as are extraordinary gardens and the historic Cromwell Castle. As a special treat, choose an optional visit to the island of Tresco and its beautiful Abbey Gardens, designed by the renowned Augustus Smith on the site of the old Benedictine Abbey, now home to 20,000 exotic plants.
Waterford/Dunmore East, Ireland Sunday, July 3, 2016
Explore Ireland's oldest city from the Viking Triangle, surrounded by 10th century fortifications, to the sparkling House of Waterford Crystal, home to the largest collection of the landmark cut crystal in the world. Take time to raise a glass at T&H Doolans' Pub, where visitors have been heartily welcomed for more than 300 years.
Dublin/Dun Laoghaire, Ireland Monday, July 4, 2016
Your cruise ends this morning but you'll want to stay for another taste of Ireland. Dublin is a city of delights and surprises. Stroll across the Ha'Penny Bridge to Trinity College for a glimpse of the Book of Kells. Step inside the 11th century Dublin Castle. Stop by the Guinness Storehouse or Old Jameson Distillery for a taste of Irish history. This is one city you won't want to miss!
